At Learning by Design Virtual Charter School, our goal is to ensure that every student experiences learning in a meaningful and purposeful way. We believe that each student has a distinct purpose and can successfully fulfill that purpose. Our desire is to partner with our students and their families to build a foundation for success.
Learning by Design is an educational alternative for students who seek a unique approach to learning. Our focus is on the individual student and his or her strengths and interests. We are a 21st century school emphasizing the use and development of 21st century skills and technology, but more importantly, we are a school that believes strong relationships with students precede successful teaching and learning.
Students attending Learning by Design engage in learning through a blending of traditional and innovative educational strategies. Teaching and learning are designed with relevance to life practice as well as the world of work. The atmosphere of the learning environment captures what students have come to expect – personalization, flexibility in schedule, just-in-time learning, one-on-one assistance, collaboration with peers and adults, engagement with the “real-world,” and technology as a teaching and learning tool – all within the essential 3 R’s – Relationships, Relevance, and Rigor.
