Everyone should build their first website using notepad or some other text editor, at least then they’d learn the basics and understand what they’re doing. It’s not rocket science but there are best practices as you’ve touched on. Wouldn’t it be great if more people followed them?

There are some great shows on TV which cover subject such as learning web design but most of us don’t have time to watch them so it’s good that we can find information like this on the net.
